Annapurna Indian Cuisine is the vision of Gopal Singh Manral. After living in Australia for several years Gopal came to Hobart to open a restaurant. He quickly made friends and contacts throughout the Hobart community, his colourful personality a shining light. Assisted by a following of family friends and relatives, Gopal embarked on the road to open his restaurant. What followed were months of preparation, hard work, prayers and traditional Indian ceremonies. On the 28th May 2000 Annapurna Indian Cuisine was opened. From that first moment when the doors opened until today Annapurna has been blessed with a happy and full house and we have no doubt this can be attributed to Gopal's great work and dedication. On the 14th June 2002 Gopal Singh Manral passed away from Leukemia at the age of 39. Shri Gopal Singh Manral is the beloved friend and relative of us all at Annapurna. He was an amazingly special person and an inspiration. It's hard for us to understand why such a pure hardworking soul with such a genuine love for God has been taken from this life. A tragic mystery we will never understand. Today although Gopal's life with us has ended, we here at Annapurna are making sure that his vision continues. We thank Gopal for his dream and we thank all the patrons of Annapurna for being part of it. |
